Beer Month & Foodie Pen Pals Part 2

The end of the month is here. It is a bittersweet feeling right now. Sad because Beer Month has ended but excited because I get to tell you about the best Foodie Pen Pal to date! Let’s save the best for last. So I bid you adieu (farewell in French) Beer Month. This was my first link up to other bloggers and I had such a great time getting to share our love for food, blogging and of course beer. So here is the recap.

From top to bottom: Beer Battered Onion Rings, Smothered Pork Chops with Beer, Bacon, Onion Relish, Blue Moon Pulled Pork, Herbed Cheddar Stout Bread, Homemade Croutons, Whiskey, Guinness, Baileys Bundt Cake, Beer Cheese Soup, and Irish Beer Chicken

Thank you Sophia from NY Foodgasm for putting this together! And don’t forget to check out Alex, Jenni, Jessica, Camille, Minerva’s sites to see their amazing recipes they concocted with beer.

So the other great part of this month was eating and drinking all the amazing goodies Sheryl from A Day in the Life sent me for Foodie Pen Pals. A few reasons why she takes the prize as the best Foodie Pen Pal:

1- Sheryl recently moved here from the Philippines and shared with me quite a few of Filipino and Chinese recipes

2- I was able to share with her some of my favorite Mexican recipes – which is her husband’s favorite cuisines

3- And last but not least these great treats I got!!

FPP April FPP April2 FPP April3

Barbecue Flavor Chippy- she said when you think of Filipino junk food this is her favorite- which is great because they tasted like our BBQ Fritos- John of course ate the whole thing – well maybe I shouldn’t exaggerate he let me have about 3. Just like that time when he ate all the jerky my pen pal sent me.

Cracklings- Another snack food – the vinegar was a little too much for me but that did not deter John from eating them

Dried Mangoes- were good – I think I am going to try make this into a chutney to serve over some pork belly soon

Big Island Shortbread Chocolate Dipped Cookies- my favorite!!! I had to put these in various places (my work, pantry and even give John a few so I wouldn’t eat them all in one sitting) it reminded me of the Pepperidge Farm Milano cookies – so after eating all of them I went online and ordered them from Hawaii (it’s normal to do things like this right?!)

Chili’s- John and I want to use this as a rub on flank steak with white rice

Mango Juice Drink- I haven’t had this yet but I actually plan on making this into some sort of daiquiri

Banana Sauce- this is like a Philippine ketchup and I agree – a little sweeter though

Tamarind Soup Mix- I am using this tonight to make Pork Sinigang – a Philippine dish that Sheryl gave me a recipe for!!

Mi Goreng Instant Noodles – think of our version of Ramen noodles but so much better with soy sauce, chili sauce, garlic and seasonings

Thank you Sheryl for the recipes and amazing box you sent me! I can’t wait to exchange more recipes! To find out more about Foodie Pen Pals go on over and meet Lindsay at The Lean Green Bean.
