January Foodie Pen Pals

When we get our new matches via email for our new foodie pen pals, I respond to them that I love to try new foods and anything local. Most of the time I also tell them I love Mexican & Italian food but I didn’t tell Julie that. But she must have sensed it because I got a package covering those bases and other great goodies!

Let’s start with one of the most important things. She knows I am trying to survive this cold winter in Indianapolis. To show the difference, in Birmingham the other day it was 52 degrees (yes it is January) and up here last week it was 12 degrees. I might turn into the person who wears short sleeves in the winter time when we move back because I won’t think it’s cold anymore. But that’s besides the point, I got some hot cocoa and French Vanilla coffee. I have already used both to warm up when I head off to work!

Then she also gave me some couscous and her homemade hot sauce which was amazing!! I definitely have gotten the itch to start learning how to can.
I used her fettuccine to make some fettuccine alfredo last week for our Wednesday night dinner along with Chicken Caprese and Baked Feta Dip. She also included some tomato bruschetta and a spice mix from Penzey’s. Julie and I are in perfect sync because what she didn’t know was I basically have 2 large spice racks full of Penzey’s spices! Can’t wait to add this one to the mix!
So thank you Julie for putting together a wonderful and thoughtful package. Go see the little surprise from Georgia I sent to Alex  this month.
Foodie Pen Pals is always such fun surprise for me! So if you are interested in learning more about the program or want to see some of the other fun packages people got – check out The Lean Green Bean.
